Hello everybody! My name is Frank Faherty, KE0FDC.I have been a member of the club for over a year now. I was able to participate in Field Day this year and truly enjoyed myself. In the process of having so much fun, I saw a lot of things that we as a club did right and things that we could have done better. I want to make Field Day 2017 better than last year. With the club leadership’s blessing, I have asked to take on the responsibility of planning and making Field Day happen. I can’t do this all by myself and will need the help of everybody in the club. A committee is being formed to take leadership in the area of Contesting which will cover Field Day. I have asked to be the chairman of this committee. In the past year I have found that I have a passion for participating in radiosport contests. Radiosport contests are a great way to build your knowledge of your radio or radios in general, on the air operations and team work skills.
In order to improve on Field Day and for club participation in contests, I would like feedback from all of the members of the club on these two subjects. We need to know what we did right and wrong at Field Day and your thoughts about the club participating in contests. When you think about what could be better, also be thinking of solutions that you as a member of our club can help with. We need everybody to participate in this to make things better!
I want to challenge all the members of our organization to be more active in the club. There are a lot of things that need to be done. Some are technically oriented and some are not. There is something for every member to do. It is easy to set back and let a few people do everything, but it is a lot more fun when everybody helps! It builds teamwork and relationships that last a lifetime. Please feel free to contact me at the club meetings or by email ffaherty@nullaspeqheating.com.
Thanks and 73!

Cool! Beans. Sounds like an excellent idea. It’s going to be huge !
Kudos to you, Frank, for stepping up and taking this on! We all know you will make FD 2017 a great event!!! I am very much already looking forward to it!
I wonder if it wouldn’t benefit us to investigate other locations for FD. The City Lake has been wonderful for a long time…but maybe this is the year we do something a little different?
I also am curious as how station captains would work…instead of band captains. We typically have 2 or 3 radios on the air. So maybe if 2 or three folks would volunteer to be a station captain and work on getting operators to run that station at certain times of the day/night, do you think we could get more contacts?
I can’t wait to see how this all pans out…some of my best memories in this hobby have come on hot, sticky days in late June hanging out with my ham brethern!
