On September 18th members of the Sullivan Amateur Radio Club are embarking on a field trip to Taum Sauk mountain. We are activating Parks On The Air and are going to try and make a lot of contacts. They are arriving there by 10 AM and plan to leave at 4 PM.
We plan to use simplex to communicate along the way. The plan is to be at the lookout tower and set up our operation. I’m going to add a list of what people plan to bring. Here is a general list of what you should pack. Quick note, they are planning to stop in Potosi for breakfast and at the meat shop in Arcadia. They will be closed when we leave so we plan to do this on the way. For lunch we are taking the grill and hope to make hotdogs or brats. Of course you can cook anything you want if you don’t like those options. Please provide your own meat.
- Cooler for meat and snacks
- bug spray
- sunscreen
- Rain gear
- Chair
- table
Below is what people have committed to bringing. I will update this as I find out what people plan to bring
- Bill-Radio and laptop for ft8 and other bands
- Bill or Mark-4 element 2 meter band antenna
- John-Radio
In closing this should be a really fun time. As always we will eat and eat. Maybe stop for ice cream. Then eat again but we will enjoy each other’s company and make some memories. I will not be able to attend but if anyone takes pictures please send them my way! If we get rained out we will reschedule.
