Our fellow ham Jerry Waeltermann, KB0DOG has passed away. We pray that his family can find peace knowing that he is no longer suffering. I did not know Jerry that well but I will always remember him having a smile on his face and offering advice to anyone that needed it. He was also the first person I’ve ever helped put up an antenna for. I was happy when he would do the knucklehead lunch news on The Good News Net because that meant he was feeling good. It’s hard to lose a friend and Jerry will be remembered. We know he is listening in heaven. I will try and get some information from people close to Jerry and perhaps they can write some memories so we can sadly update our silent key page. That is not something I have been wanting to do and I hate that we are adding to it. Heaven better put up a fence because they just got a Big Dog.
Secondly, we want to send condolences to Bills Aunt Marge. Everyone referred to her as Auntie M and by doing so she become sort of everyone’s Aunt. I remember the parties where she would come and she seemed to have a good time. The music I am told made her smile. Anyone who follows the good news net or talks to Bill at all know how much she was and is loved. We always hoped the good days outweighed the bad and enjoyed hearing the good updates and praying that the bad ones would pass. I know she lived a good, long life but that doesn’t mean we can’t miss her.
in closing of this I just want to tell anyone who reads this how much I appreciate them. Amateur Radio is a hobby, but the friendships and bonds you make go way more than that. We joke and have fun, sometimes we disagree and don’t get along, but the fact that I know I can call anyone and they will be there if they can. Family isn’t blood and as Bill has said he considers the club family. That’s something we should never change. So with that I hope you all take care, be safe whether you are home, traveling, or brave enough to face a hurricane head on. Be safe, god bless, and thanks for being there.
