Cody Gehlert(KE0FOT) Summer Field Day has come and gone but the memories will last forever. From all the messages I read the general consensus was “fantastic!” Or “Can we reserve next year?” It truly is a testament that we enjoy our hobby, company, and most important FOOD!
I was unable to attend but I know Jason made some mouthwatering smoked meat, I seen ice cream, and Robin made her traditional breakfast. Others brought food to share and judging by the pictures it was enjoyed and appreciated!
As far as equipment, I know Wayne and Mickey showed their skill by running antennas. They are our resident pro’s! A lot goes into preparing for this and I don’t want to offend anyone by leaving anyone off so if you contributed anything, in anyway, thank you. This event is not possible without the prep work! A lot goes on that goes unnoticed and just want you to know you are appreciated!
This really wouldn’t have been able to happen without Dave Johnson working his numerous connections and magic and being able to secure the location. Dave is a driving force for field day locations and POTA events and deserves a pat on the back for his time and dedication.
So here are some statistics. We ended up with 380 contacts made, which is an amazing number! Mickey was an FT-8 Machine! He made 174 contacts! I’m told he didn’t sleep and his eyes are still fine from staring at a computer screen!
In other cool news, we had a gun raffle. Mark Ervine was the winner! I’m sure it will be in good hands and congratulations to the winner.
