Yesterday afternoon I wrote a blog post on my own site about the “fun” I’ve had so far with building the new repeater controller for the SARC 2 meter repeater. It’s a bit long, but certainly light-hearted. You can find it here:

Great work Bill!!! Having been in these “pull your hair out, pee yourself with excitement, realize it is time to pull your hair out again” technological cycles before, I thoroughly enjoyed this article! I was laughing with you, not at you, trust me 🙂
This project will bring many great new features to our local repeaters and a HUGE THANK YOU for taking this on!!! The end result will be worth all the hard work and dedication you have put in…

Thanks, John! I must admit, it’s been a lot of fun! The controller is built and has been burning in for about a week now. I’ve equipped it so that it automatically establishes a VPN tunnel to a “management system” which does network and system monitoring of the node. We can equip the trustees and managers of the repeater with the necessary tools to access the VPN so they can adequately manage the controller. I have one cable to build, and I think we’ll be ready to try it on the repeater itself, so I’m pretty stoked! 😀
